Weekly Update – Summer Glau Officially Joins Dollhouse, Defying Gravity in Trouble
August 31st, 2009Categories: News and Updates, Paul S. White
Summer Glau to Join Dollhouse: We had previously mentioned that Joss Whedon wanted to find a place on Dollhouse for Summer Glau (recently off the cancelled Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles). Now she has officially been announced as a member of the cast playing a recurring character who is a Dollhouse employee and who shares a past with Echo (Eliza Dushku). Glau previously worked with Whedon on the short-lived but fan-championed Firefly. Also showing up on Dollhouse in Season 2 will be two Battlestar Galactica veterans (Jamie Bamber, and Michael Hogan), as well as a former cast member from Whedon’s Angel (Alexis Denisof). Dollhouse kicks off its second season on September 18th.
Defying Gravity Veering Off Course: ABC’s Summer import series Defying Gravity has been struggling in the ratings and its mission just may be in jeopardy. According to Sci Fi Scoop, its home Canadian network CTV has rescheduled the show to the Friday night death slot. On ABC, where the show airs on Sundays, Defying Gravity has seen its numbers decline each week sinking to an abysmal 0.8 rating and 2.66 million viewers for last Sunday’s broadcast. With numbers like that, and with the Canadian network also losing faith in the show, it’s future definitely seems to be in doubt.
