New on DVD: FlashForward Season 1 Part 1 and Zombie Apocalypse

February 16th, 2010 Comments

Categories: New Releases

Following are some of the new and upcoming releases in Science Fiction and Fantasy on DVD:

FlashFoward (Season 1, Part 1): ABC’s FlashForward is on DVD already?  But they haven’t even finished the first season?  Well apparently they are following Syfy’s lead and doing the some thing that network did with Stargate: Universe (released on DVD February 9th).  Both shows have a lengthy hiatus between the first and second parts of their initial seasons so the networks decided to rush out a DVD release of the early episodes to prep viewers for the back half of the show’s run.  FlashFoward returns on March 18th, so the February 23rd DVD release gives fans plenty of time to catch up on the show’s first ten episodes.  The show about a blackout that affected the entire world and caused people to have visions of the future had plenty of complex story arcs and character developments, so if you did not catch all of the episodes the first time around or missed the show altogether, now is the chance to revisit the storyline and get up to speed for the show’s big return.  (Due out Feb 23rd)

Zombie Apocalypse (Special Edition with a Free Comic Book): Following is Amazon.com’s production description on this low-budget gore-fest: “When college roommates Mark and Tom go out for a night at the bar, the last thing they expected to find was a machete wielding stranger and a horde of the undead. With the help of amateur photographer and video store clerk Raven, the unlikely party fights their way into an epic conflict between the living…and the dead. Zombie Apocalypse is a feature-length over-the-top action/adventure/horror movie. Its roots are in the style of the blockbusters of the 1980 s, John Carpenter films, and the energy of video games.  Zombie Apocalypse has scenes of exciting action and intense drama, but it never takes itself too seriously for too long.”  You can find out more about the film at its website: www.zombieapocalypsemovie.com.  Order your DVD today and get a free comic book with it as well!  (Due out Feb 16th)

More New Releases:

Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths (Two-Disc Edition): In a parallel Earth ruled by the Crime Syndicate, the Justice League must fight their evil doppelgangers in a battle that would be dead even, except that their malicious counterparts are willing to do the one thing Batman and Superman never would: kill.  (Due out Feb 23rd)

The Box: Push a red button on a little black box, get a million bucks cash. Just like that, all of Norma (Diaz) and Arthur Lewis’s (Marsden) financial problems will be over. But there’s a catch, according to the strange visitor (Lagella) who placed the box on the couple’s doorstep. Someone, somewhere – someone they don’t know – will die.  Based on the Richard Matheson short story “Button, Button”.  (Due out Feb 23rd)

Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant: Welcome to the Cirque Du Freak, a traveling sideshow filled with magical creatures, misunderstood freaks, and the mysterious vampire, Larten Crepsley (John C. Reilly).
